Beyond the Shields

I’ve decided something.

I’m now functioning beyond the shields.

That is, we pass each other on the street and

Some have masks and some don’t (I don’t care) and some have stickers with Statue of Liberty with a gun (I don’t care) and some say vegan and starseed (I don’t care). Some say Navy veteran and National Parks supporter and I drink wine everyday. Some say Biden, some say Trump.

(I don’t care).

I honor your viewpoints, your choices, your experiences, your decisions, your beliefs. I know there are very deep and meaningful reasons and connections behind all of them.

But these outer definitions, these labels, have no reason to get in our way.

I’m just not going to stop anymore and process your shield and consider what beliefs you hold and whether or not my personality and belief systems are going to be safe with you. And decide to open up, or to shut down accordingly.

I will not run the myriad mental Processes to understand who we are to each other.

I will

See and honor the opinions, the choices, the viewpoints you hold dear with deep respect and I’ll also go a little deeper..

To the heart of you.

And that’s where my attention and my love will rest.

That’s where I will be focusing

on the connectedness between our hearts.

On the field of infinite energy that binds us.

We come into this life-play and take on certain definitions and identities. So many experiences that lead to all those distinct connections that are the gorgeous fiber of our lives and personalities. I love and cherish them.

But I will not let them tell me of whether or not we are connected.

Because I know we are.

Beyond what definitions might fool us into believing something different.

You and I are not separate, no matter what. You and I are not against each other, no matter what. Vaccinated or unvaccinated. Nothing will separate us. You do not need to be scared of me. And I do not need to be scared of you. Even with all the differences in our definitions.

And the belief systems that push us to see each other that way…as separate.

It’s time to get real attuned to the sneaky ways that shows up. Because division and separation are always suspect…for any reason.

Who I am to you and who you are to me is much more intimate than any category that could arise.

The category

is Human Being.

And that’s what I am going to see and love and be talking to the next time I see you on the street.
