somehow we forget

somehow we forget
how everything is swirling
and changing around us
and within us
all the time.
we open our front door every morning and see the same seemingly never-changing scene,
well, we might account for season but they are expected and documented we know those are coming and we welcome or dread that change according to our preferences.
but in the larger scale our seasons are caused by the rotation of the earth, the tilt, the distance from the sun, which are all changing every year.
yes, we are changing our own climate. mother earth is going through her own shifts and changes, too. from our small window the season should always be the same, cold when it was cold last year, warm when it was warm last year...the way i remember it.
we grasp tightly to everything as a countertop you can lean on.
a firm set of stone that I can step up on.
not allowing for that stone not to be there next year,
not realizing that countertop is really just a facade.
-----------
i remember the point in my childhood when i realized our rooms and house were all just a facade, fancy fronts over brick and mortar backgrounds that could crumble.
the little scene in which we lived was not the Real.
it was a movie set.
those walls will not be there forever.
that wallpaper, that back door.
they were there and serving us then,
but not some unchangeable force.
just a facade.
just the scene where we were experiencing life at that moment.
---
we try to settle in to exactly what we know is True and Real
and beat it out on the stone tablet
wanting it to stay the same
and are quite uprooted when it does not,
in relationships that begin with a star-crossed passion, we are shocked when the scenery changes. we think the picture in the frame is the ultimate truth. it should all be snapped there forever. where is our truth now? it is flowing.
our family begins, we find a steady balance with our children, and then one more will be added. will it be the same? no. it will not. actually, not ever again. it is moving through your hands.
we do not allow life to move
we do not allow ourselves to flow from the inside out
the person we woke up to yesterday is not the same one we woke up to today
we do not allow for the tides to change
we do not allow ourselves to be as big and varied as we really are.
can we open the steel door that separates the inside from the outside
and see the inner tide meets the outer tide?
life is flowing through us.
can we get comfortable with allowing life to be an ocean instead of a brick?
could we hold a bigger vision?
a broader vision where you know you are only riding a beautiful wave,
knowing the next wave is coming,
the forever unfolding of life as it ripples toward you, through you, past you, you start to feel a rhythm versus depending on a solid structure of what will be will always be.
it seems that way, in our short-sightedness, it seems that way in our small window of time with our physical eyes. but it’s time to wake up to more senses than just our physical, our proven, even our scientific fact senses. there are more, there is more to me and to you. there is so much more, in fact , it is limitless. the possibilities within you are limitless. you are a limitless being.
I am not just talking on some earthly dream like you can achieve any career you wish to pursue...
your view of the cosmos is limitless.
the very quality of your beingness,
your ability to touch life all over the universe
is not just a nice thought.
it is.
Can we allow our limited vision of life, Our beliefs in suffering, in struggle to loosen. What if those are also not set in stone? What if they make up the facade of the house we've been living in? What if some of our beliefs about the way life is...are also shifting under us like sand?
Trust this massive ocean of possibility. Trust that as your heart calls out, all of life has been responding. Sometimes, we, in our small box of vision and beliefs, can only allow so much of it in.
break free, my friend. see this ocean we swim in.
i am here, everyone is here. but it takes new vision.
let go of the old.
let your eyes go within and see something new.
trust your heart, hold your face snugly there at the door of your heart.
see what she can tell you.
no fright.
even the people in your life
let go of them
that is, don’t grip and bind.
they belong to life
just as you do
find the place in your heart that knows there is no separation
there is no separation
allow
allow
allow

do the trees fret about where their water is coming from? We think our brain capacity makes us superior...and yet it doesn’t. the trees are here to teach us. learn their acceptance. learn the communication of their root system...talk about an internet. WE are the new kids on the block here. time to open our eyes and become aware. time to hold reverence. of those who don't speak in the voices that we are used to listening to.

It is a cultural thing in part--to be a good cog in the machine we must be fixed, set, stay the same. Good worker bees
